Wordle Solver
Enter the green, yellow and gray clues from your guesses and we narrow the field to the five-letter words still in play.
How to use the Wordle solver
Type each confirmed letter into the square where the game placed it.
Letters you know are in the word but in the wrong spot.
Letters the game has ruled out entirely.
Every five-letter word still consistent with those clues is listed.
No spoilers — just candidates
The solver never tells you the answer. It narrows the field to the words that still fit and leaves the choice to you, which keeps the puzzle a puzzle. Keep the word list on Wordle answers only to see words the game can actually pick; switch it to Any five-letter word when you want valid guesses too.
Good starting words
A strong opener tests five common, different letters. CRANE, SLATE and TRACE consistently rank near the top of solver studies; ADIEU and AUDIO take a different tack and locate four vowels at once. Whichever you use, spend the second guess on five brand-new letters rather than reshuffling the ones you have already tested.
When a letter is both yellow and gray
That happens when you guessed a letter twice and the answer only holds it once: the first copy comes back yellow or green, the second gray. Put it in both boxes — the solver treats the gray as "no more than the copies you already found" rather than throwing the word away.
