Finding your best Scrabble play
Enter the seven tiles on your rack and the finder lists every legal word, grouped by length with its point value. Playing all seven tiles in one turn earns a 50-point bingo, so the longest group is always worth reading first.
NWL or Collins?
Two official word lists are in use. NWL (the NASPA Word List) governs tournament play in the United States, Canada and Thailand. Collins governs the UK and most of the rest of the world, and is the larger of the two. Switch between them in Filters so you never play a word your opponent can challenge off the board.
How the score is worked out
Each word shows the sum of its letter values — QUIZ is Q(10) + U(1) + I(1) + Z(10) = 22. That is the base score: the double and triple squares on the board multiply it further, and they depend on where you place the word. See the full letter value table for both games.
Playing a blank tile
Type ? for each blank you hold. A blank can be any letter but scores zero, so it is best spent completing a long word or reaching a triple-word square rather than replacing a one-point vowel.
